Colombia has discovered the posiblilities of a new item for export: insects, more concretely, Colombian butterflies. Our country is in a privilege situation, because it has an important diversity. Colombia is in the position of being the third country with greater number of species of lepidopteranss in the world.
Colombia is the first country of the world in variety of butterflies, with 3,500 diurnal species and 45,000 nocturnal ones.
In Colombia, the sector has begun to operate. This year the first legal exports to England, France and Belgium by 7,200 dollars, thanks to the support of Proexport and the Institute were made Alexander Von Humboldt. The company "Wings Of Colombia" exhibited in September, and for the first time, Colombian butterflies in the World-wide Fair Entomológica of Paris.
